Wild turkeys in 407/437?
« on: October 13, 2021, 09:11:08 AM »
I live in Arlington on the border of 407 and 437.
This summer I swear I heard wild turkeys gooble around me on the tree farm. Last week I caught these on my camera

Very cool.
Hopefully they can avoid getting eaten long enough to flourish and establish a bigger crowd.

There used to be a bunch of them up by Fortson, probably 10 years ago or so.

Pilchuck Tree Farm has had turkeys around for quite some time. Most of that ground west of hwy 9 isn't open to hunting though. Would be nice if they took off a bit, but there's a lot of things trying to eat them.

 :yeah:

Lived in the Bryant area for nearly 30 years and saw a few for a while (which I assumed were planted) but they quickly disappeared lots of predators (wild and domestic) and wet it is I am sure does not help.   :twocents:

Used to see them just west of McMurray. I assumed they were escaped "domestic wild" turkeys. Wild, domestic, wild turkeys if you will.

NWTF spearheaded turkey releases for two years back in the 90's on the Pilchuck Tree farm in the Bryant area.  When we released them it was like watching a bowling ball with wings take off.  Reports of them came in for several years then stopped.  Maybe a few made it?  Great to see.

5 ish years ago the Tulalip tribe had a release program. I have seen turkeys in the stanwood area 2 years ago.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Those must have been the ones we saw back then. We moved to Grandview Road in 1993 and saw Turkeys shortly after for a while, but they just disappeared quickly. Not sure why though??
